Michael’s First Solo Show

.

Update from Michael:
IN OTHER NEWS

I have my first little solo show in my hometown of Rockwall comin up on the 14th. So I'm spending all day every day writing and learning songs. I have a bad habit of writing a song and then moving onto a new one before i even learn the first one! So now I have to learn em all in a rush!

That show is kind of a small private thing I think it was sold out a while ago..BUT I was asked to open up for my brother at his show at Texas A&M at the end of March...so as far as I know i'm still on for that

Also the newer songs I've been writing are getting interesting! They're getting bluesier by the minute! I just like the freedom of blues style music...I dont like structured songs too much. Not to say all my songs will be blues style but i'm definitely feelin it. I dont like when music is perfect and structured. It doesnt seem real...I like people to miss a few notes and get carried away sometimes.

I also made 2 new friends that I write really well with back home in Texas so thats awesome.

I'm really looking forward to hearing his new songs. Perhaps he'd sing those on his first solo show.
Too bad I don't live anywhere near Rockwall. :(

If you have the chance to catch his gig, do it! He sounds good, he looks good. What more can you ask for? ;)

Michael Castro Live in Houston

.

Here's a vid from Michael's Planet Kidz gig in Houston, Texas on February 20.

Michael sang an original song during the event. The title escapes me as of the moment. So I'll have to get back to you on that.

He also performed covers of popular songs such as In Love With A Girl and This Boy.

Enjoy!

A Thousand Years After

;

I'm back. No, I did not come bearing gifts. =(

I'm still undecided on whether or not to post the pictures I found online that were taken during his Planet Kidz gigs. I'm kind of weighing the implications of posting them. You know... copyright and all... So in the meantime, here's a not so new news.

Michael posted a blog a few days ago and here's an interesting excerpt:
I was definately not depressed after bein cut from idol! I saw that they made me look like i dropped my head or whatever, but theres cameras around 24/7, that clip was from another time sittin in that room, because we knew before they came in we were the cut room and so when they told us, we had already planned to jump around and cheer, and we did! But of course they edited it to look like we were all gonna die!

This was in response to a fan who asked if he was depressed after his elimination after the final round in Hollywood.

The entire blog is an interesting read. Do check it out on his MySpace.

And hey, I haven't been able to update as often as I would have wanted, because of some pressing matters I had to attend to. Hopefully, I'd be able to post more stuff in the coming days.

You all take care.

OKAY SO...IDOL

I just got home, but i heard they showed me getting cut tonight...SO. I got cut because they thought i didnt want it bad enough, at least thats what Paula told me. Which is half true, and after all it is their show and of course they want people who jump around and at least pretend to be excited. I'm never gonna be one of those people who jumps around and screams.

I'm a little upset they didnt show that last song tho because it was my best!! But of course they cant show my best song then cut me on the same night =P

However, it's also a good thing, because had I have been in the voting rounds, they probably would have eaten me alive...and once youve made it to voting rounds you can never try out again. So the good news is...

I can try out next year! And plan to do so with much more experience. I've already gotten way better and been performing and stuff. It's kind of a blessing in disguise because theres no way I would have survived this season.

I do plan on pursuing a music career tho! I promise you havent heard the last of me :)

Speaking of which I have a song i'm puttin up for sale ASAP hopefully within the
next few days, it was produced by the same guy who produced nelly furtado. So its prettttyyy cool =P My first official song! woooo!

And whats REALLY awesome is...I got cut tonight, and have almost 40 pages of friend requests! Are you kidding me?!?! Thats awesome haha

Michael Castro's AI Journey Ends...For Now

-

Most of you probably know by now that Michael got cut at the end of the Top 72.

I wanted to refrain from posting the schedule of his shows as not to spoil the Hollywood outcome for the others who didn't know. But since his area tour had already begun, I had decided to just post it. At least those who figured out the implication of the sched didn't have to keep on hoping that Michael made it to the voting rounds.

I don't really mind that he got cut coz it's really not the end of the road for him. And with all the plants (professionals and veterans alike) in the contestant pool this year, a newbie like him would have had to face an uphill climb. What irks me the most is that they cut him, but didn't even show him singing.

I wanted to hear him sing. But lo and behold, AI opted to show us the tired and old formula of senseless bickering, sob stories, and all that drama.

I wanted to know WHY he was cut. But no, that didn't happen. They should have shown at least one of his 3 performances, for after all didn't the day of his audition register record high ratings? Isn't he the most popular of the contestants this year? Doesn't he have the biggest following? Love him or hate him, at least people are talking about him. If he got cut because he sucked during the Top 72, well then, they should have at least shown the clip. It would help me understand why he was cut, because frankly, a lot, and I do mean a LOT, of those who were promoted most certainly don't deserve to be in the Top 50.

AI or whoever did the editing is not in tune with the rest of the world. No one enjoyed those annoying cat fights, the irritating mumbling of songs, the epic walking off the stage stunts. I know AI is all about the drama, sure they need to spice things up. But seriously, if what we saw during the Hollywood round is an indication of what the rest of the season holds for us, then there is only one thing I look forward to, seeing the four judges attempt to show some kind of chemistry and rapport, but instead end up looking like panelists on the Jerry Springer show.

And somewhere out there, Nigel Lythgoe is rubbing his two hands together and giving an evil laugh.
