Jason Has Found A Home!

Yep! That's what he said! =p

I interrupt our regular programming (lol) to tell you that Jason Castro, Michael's big brother and American Idol Season 7 Third Runner Up, is now signed with Atlantic Records. Yes. THE Atlantic Records. Home of the Mraz, Collins, Thomas etc...

Apparently, Jason mentioned it during an interview on the night of his appearance on American Idol Extra. For some reason AI conveniently failed to give him the opportunity to say it on air and make it known to the world that he has been signed to a major record deal. Probably because Atlantic is a competitor of 19E. But whatever...

Anyway, someone found this link, so her ya go, watch and listen as Jason makes it official.

And listen to him talk about Michael! He said Michael has the "music bug". LOL Cute.

Jason Castro Sings Hallelujah

.Jason

This just in:

Amar A Morir Premiere Night

Aaaahhh goose bumps. Amazing.

Ya, ya, I know. We're supposed to be writing about Michael. But come on, it's his brother. It's Hallelujah. It's Jason. ;-)

P.S.

We've been trying to find pics of Michael from the event. So far we haven't found any. But some will eventually turn up. No worries.

Jason Castro To Perform At The Santa Barbara International Film Festiv

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="401" caption=" "]Jason At Movie Premiere[/caption]

A rumor suggests that Jason's family will be flying to California to watch his performance. And since Michael's MySpace status (from 16 hours ago) says he is "packing and then off to the airport", I suspect that he will be attending the Santa Barbara International Festival to support his brother.

So if you are anywhere near Santa Barbara, or if you live faaarrrr away, but has the means and the time, why not attend the Festival? Not only will you be able to watch Jason perform his FULL version of the lovely Hallelujah, you might just have the chance to see "the" Michael Castro up close and personal.

And wait, there's more!

The luminous Kate Winslet will be at the festival on the same day to receive the Montecito Award. The awarding ceremony will be in a different theater (Arlington), but hey, if you try hard enough, star sighting is not improbable.

The event which runs January 22 to February 1, 2009, will be honoring the great Clint Eastwood on the 29th. Kristin Scott Thomas, Penelope Cruz and comeback king Mickey Rourke, will also be receiving special awards.

Movie festivals like this are always fun and interesting. There are different programs and activities all day long and if you buy a special cinema pass, you can watch all the movies you like. Sometimes the package even includes access to the gala on the first day and the awards ceremony on the final night of the festival.

For more information on the festival schedule and the ticket/passes packages, here's the link to their website : SBIFF

Michael Castro Makes A Splash

.

There's a lot of buzz about our boy. Here's another article; it's from the NY Daily:
He's no bikini-girl, but 'American Idol' star Jason Castro's brother Michael has family ties

Well, he's no bikini-girl Katrina Darrell, but Michael Castro still made a splash Wednesday night on "American Idol" for his family ties: the hot pink-haired singer is the brother of last season's sweet-voiced crooner Jason Castro.

.

It's a good read. Here's the link.

"Pink-Haired" Michael Advances

.
An article from USMagazine.

On Wednesday's American Idol, wannabe singers in Kansas City turned out -- including Michael Castro, the pink-haired brother of last year's finalist Jason Castro.

Michael, 20, impressed the judges with his performance of Gavin DeGraw's "In Love With A Girl."

Jason and Michael Castro in the LA Times

It's more about Jason, but Michael's in it too!
"One star shines bright in Kansas City "

by Richard Rushfield:

The show's most intriguing moment came, however, in a guest cameo -- the return of Season Seven giant Jason Castro to the "Idol" auditions in support of his charismatic younger brother, Michael.

Seeing Jason, an actual, certified Idol walk among the cringing masses in the waiting lounge was such a contrast, it was like seeing a god come down from Mt. Olympus and walk among mere mortals.  The fascinating part is that just one year ago, Jason sat among them, without any special aura or grandeur to his presence. So innocuous was Jason that he was not even shown until the end of Hollywood Week.

Such is the power of "American Idol" that a year later, having worked his way through the "Idol" journey, having stood night after night before millions, he appears with a larger-than-life quality.

You can read the rest of the article HERE. And while you're there, how about leaving some good words for our boy. Mmmkay?

Quotes From Michael's Audition

.

* Exchange between new judge Kara and our boy:

Kara:  “You have this, ‘I have a secret’ vibe”

Michael: “Maybe I don’t even know it.”

(he is a stud. that is all.)

.

*Michael on big bro Jason

Michael: “He’s like, more girly, and I’m more, like, not girly,”

(this is the part where my jaw dropped and then after I had finally picked it up from the floor, all I called say was a big WTH!!! ) =p

.

*And my favorite quote of the night:

Jason: “By girly you mean I have emotions and express them well?  Some people call that an artist.”

(and then a collective shriek was heard across Castro land.)

.

And by the way, contrary to American Idol's constant claim, Jason Castro is in fact a fun and interesting interviewee. This jab at Jason's interview skills is getting tired. The only clip they ever have of him bungling up an interview  is that pre-performance clip from the Top 20 round. Yes, from week 2. It's that old.

Jason consistently gave honest, polite, down to earth and sincere interviews. His exit interview on Idol Extra was entertaining and truthful and all his radio interviews after AI were fun and revealing.

But I digress.  On the Michael : It will truly be interesting to watch how far Michael will go on his AI journey. I also wonder whether the show is going to treat him more humanely and spare him the savage beating his beautiful soul of a brother got.

To Michael's credit, our guy is a Cage fighter. I'm not saying he's going to get all violent, but I really don't think he's going to take crap from anyone. Not even Simon.

Michael Castro Audition Video

I can't get it to load here. Grrrr.

But here's a link to it.

Michael Castro - Audition, Kansas City

Side note:

I noticed that Ryan Seacrest referred to Jason as last year's "fourth runner-up".  WTH?

It was either Ryan's mistake or the writer's. They demoted the guy one rank down.

Just to be clear to everyone,  Jason Castro was the 4th placer last season. He finished in the Top 4 and hence should be called  the "third runner-up".

Michael Castro's Audition In The News

.

May I just say that Jason Castro is love. And that I miss him.

Jason Castro at the Kansas City Auditions

Is he a great brother or what? Still has that same goofy, winning smile and personality.

Am not sure I'm ready to let go of last year's season just yet. Aahh.... Season 7... good times.

-

Michael Castro, with last year's finalist big bro, Jason.

-

Fortunately, Michael's on Season 8.

Last year was emotionally exhausting, but I'll be happy to stay tuned as long as there are people like him around to make the show less painful to watch. Ya know... with all the plants and TCOs sprinkled all over, this season has the potential to become really annoying.

Just saying. ;-)

P.S.

And oh, video is by lavenderstripes.

The video was up so quick on youtube, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it.

Thank you, lavenderstripes. You rock!

As The Music Plays.....

.

Michael Castro Music

After a long, agonizing wait, we finally heard him sing. Michael has added a song to his MySpace music account.

It’s been 9 months since he burst into the public consciousness. After finding out that Jason Castro had a little brother, the first question was the obvious “Is he hot?”, followed by the somewhat mandatory “Can he also sing?”

The questions became louder many times over, as soon as news that he had auditioned for the upcoming season of America Idol came out.

The first question is a no brainer. If you look at the meaning of “hotness” on the dictionary, you’ll see the word “Michael.” (uhm.. yeah… I made this one up.) But seriously, Michael is muy guapo. That, at least, is uncontested.

While one song is probably not sufficient to come to a conclusion as to his chances on the competition, it definitely gives us an idea on what he sounds like and what kind of music he is going to bring to the Idol stage.

I have been listening to the song non-stop for the past hour. Whether I think he is good or not is immaterial as of the moment. As far as this Creeper is concerned, this is a very important day. We finally heard Michael sing.

Big bro, Jason Castro, on a couple of occasions, had stated that Michael was the better singer. That issue may never be resolved. It is safe to say though that they sound alike, and yet so different. Listen to his player and you’ll get what I mean.

But ultimately, the only question that matters now is whether or not he survived Hollywood enroute to the Top 36. Does the existence of this Music page indicate a positive outcome of his Idol stint? Did he make it after all? Were the spoilers inaccurate?

It’s hard to say, really. We’ll have to wait and see. But for now, it is my opinion that he deserved the ticket to Hollywood.

Michael can sing. Yes, this girl thinks This Boy can sing.

Haters to the left.

Garland Show

.

Our favorite daydreaming boy, Jason Castro, performed at a Christmas show with Patty La Belle in his hometown last December. The Heavy Steadies backed Jason up for the second time, the Tulsa gig being the first.

Several Dreadheads, MCas Creepers included, attended the show and the meet and greet event with Jason at the local Barnes and Noble the following day. Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the show. Booooooo. Real life gets in the way sometimes; and busy people like me just have to learn to suck it up.

Anyway, some people who were lucky (and bold enough) to approach the younger Castro, asked him about American Idol. As expected, Michael was very careful with his responses (darn that confidentiality clause!)

Rumors have been circulating that he was cut in the Hollywood round *insert sad face :( here.* BUT…… when asked whether he was returning to school next year, he didn’t say YES, instead he gave a smile and made some funny faces. A NO for an answer would have been more encouraging, but, heyyy… he didn’t say YES. He could have, you know. But he didn’t. That means there is still a chance, no matter how little, that he made it beyond the Hollywood round!

Of course we will not find out until January when the new season begins, but till then… let’s just enjoy all the Michael pics floating around!

The Beginning of A Long Adventure

Who would've have thought?

Like an answered prayer to all his Creepers who have been waiting to hear him sing, Michael Castro auditioned for American Idol Season 8.
Yes, I'm talking about that Michael Castro, Jason Castro's brother. And yes, he definitely looks the part.

His big bro Jason, last year's fourth placer, went with him for his final audition in front of Simon, Randy and Paula.

(I don't really care about the 4th judge. Heh. Sue me.)

Questions on whether or not he made it to the Hollywood round shall remain unanswered, until Season 8 officially begins.

'Till then we shall have to wait. Waiting sucks, but a Michael Castro in the Top 24 will mean one thing- Hotness on our TV screens.

Hotness

.

is Michael Castro.

With Jason's stint on American Idol Season 7 already over, we certainly hope this won't be the last time we hear of the gorgeous Castro boys.

Jason has a real shot at a successful singing career, he only has to seize the opportunity and go full blast in taking advantage of the familiarity and name recall that his exposure in AI has provided him. And with Jason around, hopefully for a long long time, that means we will also be treated to occasional sightings of his equally handsome little brother, the elusive MCas.

We've been told that Michael himself, can sing. However, it seems that this A&M student is more focused on school and helping his Dad in the family construction business. But with the whole family being musically gifted, who knows, we may actually succeed in making him appear in one of Jason's video blogs and then sing a couple of lines for us. It's a long shot, but heyyy, anything can happen.
